About Me

To teach children skills that enable them to become responsible, active learners; to foster a caring and creative learning environment that nurtures each child’s emotional and intellectual development; and to celebrate the unique gifts and perspectives of every child with learning differences.

I've been a private special education teacher and one-on-one instructor since 2014. Prior to and while earning my Master of Education in 2012, I worked and volunteered in special education classrooms in several schools (public, private, and charter) for over 10 years.

I hold a Standard Professional Cross-Categorical Special Education K-12 certificate, which means I am trained to teach multiple children with a spectrum of individual needs and challenges, and have held a Structured English Immersion Endorsement, K-12, which means I was trained to teach children whose first language was not English.

Since receiving my degree in 2012, I have attended the Landmark Summer Institute for Educators several times and received additional training in dyslexia, writing, math, and phonics. I have also received training in Phonemic Awareness, Metacognition in the Writing Process, Expository Expression, Language-Based Learning Disabilities, and Strategies to Support Students with Social Skill challenges.
